Tucson, Ariz. – In separate incidents over the month of March, Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents arrested 26 illegal aliens who were later identified as sex offenders during processing.
Of the 26 subjects apprehended, 21 males were identified as Mexican nationals, three men were identified as Guatemalan, one was from Honduras and one was from Ecuador. Record checks generated by the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System showed various charges, including child fondling, sexual abuse, sexual battery, lewd and lascivious acts against a child and rape. The men were held for further processing. Agents continue to enhance the quality of life in the United States by preventing these sex offenders from entering our communities.
Sex offenders and other dangerous criminal aliens are frequently among those illegal aliens apprehended while attempting to illegally cross the Arizona border. With assistance from IAFIS, the Border Patrol can rapidly identify aliens with criminal histories and bring them to an appropriate law enforcement resolution.
