U.S. Marshals Arrest Escaped Standoff Fugitive



Salinas, CA - Agustin Leon-Palomares, age 30, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force along with the assistance of the Salinas Police Department and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, late Monday night in Salinas, CA and is currently in the Monterey County Jail.

Agustin Leon-Palomares had warrants out of Santa Cruz County and Monterey County for terroristic threats, felon in possession of a weapon, and other charges. Last week, U.S. Marshals attempted to arrest Agustin Leon-Palomares in the 1300 block of Cherokee Dr. in Salinas, CA which led to a long standoff situation. A specialized team which consisted of U.S. Marshals Task Force Members, Salinas Police Department, and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office continued to work around the clock searching for Agustin Leon-Palomares. Agustin Leon-Palomares was located at the Americas Best Value Inn, based off of tips provided by the community.

The U.S. Marshals Service is the primary Federal agency charged with conducting fugitive investigations throughout the United States and abroad. The U.S. Marshals Service regularly works in concert with other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to seek out and arrest violent fugitives and sex offenders, and has established task forces throughout the nation to facilitate the apprehension of fugitives.

Fugitive Wanted for 2011 Murder of Infant Son Arrested in Dominican Republic, Extradited Back to U.S.



Harrisburgh, PA - Today, United States Marshal Martin J. Pane announced the return to the United States of Johann Ramirez-Herrera, a 31-year-old man formerly of York, Pennsylvania charged with the 2011 homicide of his infant son.

On October 7, 2011, the York City Police Department charged Ramirez-Herrera with criminal homicide after his 11-month-old son died from numerous injuries consistent with being beaten and strangled six days earlier. Travel records revealed that Ramirez-Herrera fled the United States to his native Dominican Republic on the same day his child died. Upon learning this, the York City Police Department requested the U.S. Marshals Service to assist in locating him.

The U.S. Marshals and York City Police detectives pursued leads for more than three years. Their diligence paid off when they discovered Ramirez-Herrera was spotted in the Dominican town of El Seibo.

On March 6, 2015, Dominican Republic authorities arrested him in El Seibo pursuant to an extradition request submitted by the United States. On February 20th, Ramirez-Herrera was extradited to the United States.

“This arrest is a direct result of cooperation between U.S. and Dominican law enforcement authorities, to include the U.S. Marshals Service’s International Branch,” said U.S. Marshal Pane. “Additionally, the persistence of the personnel assigned to the Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania working together with our partners in in the York City Police Department and the York County District Attorney’s Office ensured this man was brought to justice.”

The U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania is comprised of 22 state, county and local police agencies, including the York City Police Department and the York County District Attorney’s Office.

Significant assistance was also provided by the Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs and Dominican law enforcement authorities.

New Mexico’s Most Wanted Adds A New Violent Offender



Albuquerque, NM - The United States Marshals Service in NM is asking for assistance in locating George Bond. Bond is wanted for failing to appear at arraignment for an open count of Homicide. Bond is currently attempting to avoid apprehension by Law Enforcement and is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Deputies and Task Force Officers assigned to the United States Marshals Service South West Investigative Fugitive Team (SWIFT) Task Force were in a foot pursuit with Bond early today near the U.S. Post Office on Broadway and Mountain. Bond’s Whereabouts are currently unknown. It is asked that anyone with information contact either the Albuquerque Police Department or the United States Marshals Service.

Bond is believed to be armed and extremely dangerous.
