U.S. Marshals Task Force Arrest Second Suspect in Armed Home Invasion



Burlington, VT - The U.S. Marshals Service, Vermont Violent Offender Task Force (VVOTF) arrested a fugitive who was wanted for assault and robbery with a firearm resulting in injury, burglary, and unlawful mischief charges.

Jerome Stewart, 25, of St. Albans, Vermont was arrested on April 17, 2014 in Winooski, VT. Stewart was wanted by the Burlington Police Department for assault and robbery with a firearm resulting in Injury, burglary, and unlawful mischief charges and was wanted since February 2014. A warrant was issued for his arrest on February 28, 2014.

Stewart has a history of drug, assault, parole, and stolen property related violations in Chittenden County. These offenses include cocaine possession, assault, aggravated domestic assault, receiving stolen property, and parole violations.

The arrest was a result of a culmination of investigative efforts by the U.S. Marshals Service in the District of Vermont, the Vermont State Police, the Winooski Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations.

U.S. Marshals Capture Violent Sex Offender After a Year on the Run



Richmond, VA – U.S. Marshal Robert Mathieson announces the capture of Allen Robert Turner. This 50-year-old fugitive was wanted on charges stemming from a felony rape conviction which occurred over 10 years ago.

In 2000, Turner was convicted of felony rape in the City of Richmond and sentenced to 10 years of incarceration in the Virginia Department of Corrections. He was released on supervised probation in 2008 and was required to register as a sex offender with the Virginia State Police. On January 2, the Virginia State Police charged this fugitive with failure to register as a sex offender and providing false information to the Sex Offender Registry. Additionally, Turner was charged with violation of probation for failing to report to the Richmond Probation Office. Turner, a Sexually Violent Predator, has been on the run for over a year.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Richmond adopted this fugitive case last month. Over the past few weeks, the team of law enforcement officers worked together to develop information leading to an address in the City of Richmond where Turner was donating blood platelets for cash.

Early this morning, Deputy U.S. Marshals and task force officers (TFOs) surrounded the facility, conducted a brief search and located this fugitive among other donors. Turner was seated in a reclining chair with an IV in his arm donating blood. Investigators informed the fugitive that they would allow the process to finish, but that he was under arrest. Turner was in the process of texting someone at the time of the arrest. Turner handed the phone to a deputy who observed the following words on the screen: “They Got Me.”

The U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force in Richmond consists of several law enforcement agencies in the greater Richmond and Tri-Cities areas. They target and arrest the most violent fugitives in the region.

Convicted Felon Arrested in Winston-Salem, North Carolina by U.S. Marshals



Winston-Salem, NC – This morning at 10:00 AM, William Andrew Mitchell, a 22 year old, Black Male, was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF) and the Winston-Salem Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team. Mitchell was wanted by the Winston-Salem Police Department for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

JFTF conducted surveillance in and around the Winston-Salem area which led the JFTF to 1532 Argonne Boulevard, where Mitchell was arrested without incident. Mitchell is alleged to have possessed a firearm after being previously convicted for felony Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine.

The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force for the Middle District of North Carolina is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service, Chapel Hill Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston-Salem Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Department of Community Corrections – Probation & Parole.

4 Acts of Violence, 4 Arrests; U.S. Marshals and Partners Clean up the Streets



San Francisco, CA – The U.S. Marshal led Pacific Southwest Fugitive Task Force (PSWFTF) in California, working in conjunction with San Francisco Police, Oakland Police, and Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, apprehended 4 fugitives, who are charged with violent crimes, in the last 48 hours.

Tyrell Harvey, 25, is charged by San Francisco Police with Attempted Homicide. Harvey is alleged to have been involved in a shooting in early January in the Bayview district of San Francisco. Harvey was found at a local apartment complex where he surrendered to authorities without incident.

Dwight Carroll, 38, is charged by the Oakland Police Department with Attempted Homicide and Assault with a Firearm. Carroll is accused of shooting a female in the face and back after a verbal altercation. Carroll was found in the 3000 block of Paxton Ave., in Oakland, where he was arrested.

Michael McQueen, 28, is charged by the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office with Homicide. McQueen is suspected of shooting an individual in the Terra Hills area of Contra Costa County. McQueen was arrested by PSWFTF members within the 18000 block of Wagele Drive in Sonoma without incident.

Chad Mills, 35, is charged by the Covington County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama with Sodomy on a child. Mills, who is HIV positive, was arrested after moving from homeless shelter to homeless shelter in Oakland. Mills was arrested and will be extradited back to Alabama to answer the charges against him.

Established in 1789, the United States Marshals Service is the nation’s oldest federal law enforcement agency. Nationwide, the U.S. Marshals Service averages 337 fugitive arrests every day. In fiscal year 2012, the U.S. Marshals arrested 123,006 fugitives, 12,451 of those were wanted for sexual offenses and 3,962 for homicide. Locally, the PSWFTF in Northern California arrested about 750 fugitives during that same period and have arrested approximately 68 for homicide or attempted homicide in Oakland alone in the last two years.

Savannah Fugitive Captured



Savannah, GA – A Savannah man wanted for Criminal Attempt at Murder, Burglary, Aggravated Assault, and Aggravated Battery by the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department (SCMPD) and probation violation by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Department was arrested in Savannah, Georgia by the United States Marshals Service Savannah Office of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and members of the SCMPD Precinct 1 Patrol Units, SCMPD Detectives, and Garden City K-9 officers on April 21, 2014.

Elston Marquez Howard, 38, was wanted by the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department on above charges from an incident that happened on Kingman Avenue in Savannah, GA on March 30, 2014. Howard was also wanted by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Department for Probation Violation in a warrant dated February 14, 2014, with the original charges being Sale of Controlled Substances (Crack), Possession of Drug Related Objects, and Use of Communication. Howard went into hiding.

The case was referred to the Savannah Office of the United States Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force to locate and apprehend Howard. An extensive investigation was conducted by the Marshals Task Force and information was generated that Howard was possibly in a home at 106 Kingman Avenue in Savannah, GA. Marshals Task Force members, SCMPD Precinct 1 Patrol units, SCMPD Detectives and Garden City K-9 surrounded the residence. Officers knocked and announced their presence, however the occupants of the home would not open the door. Officers surrounded the home for over the two hours until a search warrant was obtained. Forcible entry was made into the residence, and Howard was found lying on a bed watching television. Howard was taken into custody without incident and transported to SCMPD Headquarters to be interviewed by detectives. For further details of the case, please contact SCMPD Violent Crimes Division. Two other people were arrested for disorderly conduct and other charges at the scene.

Annually, investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in the apprehension of over 36, 000 federal fugitives. More federal fugitives are arrested by the Marshals Service than all other federal agencies combined. In 2013 U.S. Marshals led task forces arrested more than 86,000 state and local fugitives, which cleared over 113,000 warrants.

The Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force has three offices: Atlanta, Macon, and Savannah. The task force covers the whole state of Georgia. The Savannah Office of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a team comprised of investigators from the Georgia Department of Corrections, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Department, the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department, the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles, the McIntosh County Sheriff’s Department, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department, the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Department, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Department, the Hampton County Sheriff’s Department, and the United States Marshals Service. The task force objective is to seek out and arrest fugitives charged with violent crimes, drug crimes, sex offenders, and other felonies.
