ATF, NYPD Offer Up To $25,000 For Information About Central Park Explosion



NEW YORK – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the New York City Police Department (NYPD) have announced a combined reward of up to $25,000 (up to $12,500 from ATF, up to $10,000 from NYPD, and up to $2,500 from Crime Stoppers) for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the explosion which took place on July 3, 2016, at approximately 10:52 a.m. in Central Park, in close proximity to the 60th Street and 5th Avenue entrance. The explosion resulted in a severe injury to one victim.

In addition, ATF and NYPD are calling on any individuals who may have taken photographs or video at the location of the explosion prior to July 3, 2016, to provide copies to investigators. Louisiana Resident Pleads Guilty to Conspiracy to Defraud the United States



Conspired to File False Tax Returns Using Stolen Identities

A Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana resident pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States and to commit theft of public money, wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, announced Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Caroline D. Ciraolo, head of the Justice Department’s Tax Division, and U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

According to the plea agreement, Jackie Chaney, aka Jackie Scott, 46, admitted to conspiring with others to prepare false tax returns using stolen identities.  Chaney admitted that she and her co-conspirators obtained the names and social security numbers of individuals which were used to prepare and file false tax returns. At least one of Chaney’s co-conspirators electronically filed the false tax returns and Chaney and others received the fraudulently obtained refunds in the form of checks or prepaid debit cards. Chaney also admitted that she and her co-conspirators further conspired to convert fraudulently obtained tax refund checks into cash.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 29, 2017 before U.S. District Court Judge Susie Morgan. Chaney faces a statutory maximum sentence of five years in prison for the conspiracy charge, a period of supervised release, restitution and monetary penalties.

Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Ciraolo and U.S. Attorney Polite commended special agents of the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation, who conducted the investigation, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Hayden Brockett and Trial Attorney Lauren Castaldi of the Tax Division, who are prosecuting this case.

The United States Marshals Service Adds to the New Mexico’s Most Wanted List



Albuquerque, NM - The U.S. Marshals Service is requesting your help in locating the following Federal Fugitive, Kenneth Alcon. Alcon is wanted on felony arrest warrants for the following charges: 3 counts of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon (knife) and an arrest order for Failure to Comply with Probation on the underlying charge(s) of Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Alcon, a member of the Chicano Pride gang was involved in a gang related fight that occurred in the city limits of Bloomfield, NM. During the fight it is alleged that Alcon stabbed 3 male subjects multiple times in the back and side area, resulting in a collapsed lung for one subject. All three victims were transported and treated at the San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, NM.

If you see this fugitive, DO NOT attempt to apprehend him. Instead, get a good description, location and call your local police or the United States Marshal’s Service. This fugitive is considered Armed and Dangerous and has prior violent convictions.
