ATF Offers $5,000 Reward in Yellow Bird’s Robbery

ST. PAUL, Minn. – A reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and convictions of those responsible for a recent armed robbery at Yellow Bird’s, a Pine Ridge, S.D. convenience store, was announced today by Bernard J. Zapor, Special Agent in Charge of the St. Paul Field Division, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

“ATF, along with our strong partnerships with local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement, is committed to combating violent crime and will utilize all of ATF’s resources to target these violent offenders and solve this crime,” Zapor said.

The armed robbery occurred on Nov. 26 at the business located at Highway 18, Pine Ridge, S.D. Two individuals entered the Yellow Bird’s convenience store and one produced a handgun, pointed it at a clerk and demanded the money. During the robbery, the individual fired one round from the handgun inside the store. No one was hurt during the robbery and the individuals left with an unknown amount of cash. One individual was described as wearing a dark colored sweatshirt along with a white mask. The other individual was described as wearing a white or gray colored sweatshirt and a black rag over his or her face. Both individuals were wearing a red colored glove on one hand and a purple glove on the other.

Investigators are seeking the public's help with identifying the suspects involved in this incident. Anyone with information about these crimes should contact the ATF at (605) 355-0017 or the Bureau of Indian Affairs at (605) 867-2931. All calls will be kept confidential.
