Deontray Rashard “Rocky” Bryant, 28, was wanted by the SCMPD for the offense of kidnapping. Bryant was also wanted by the Garden City Police Department on multiple warrants for Aggravated Assault with a gun, Possession of a Firearm by a convicted felon, Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a crime and Criminal Trespass. In addition to those charges, Bryant was wanted by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Department for Probation Violation with his original charge being burglary. These charges arose from incidents that happened in October and November of 2010.
The case was referred to the United States Marshals Service Savannah Office of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force to locate and arrest Bryant. An extensive investigation was conducted by the Marshals Task Force and numerous leads were worked to try and find Bryant. In the course of the investigation the Marshals Task Force determined that Bryant had fled the Savannah , Georgia area and was in the Augusta , Georgia area. On January 6, 2011 , the Marshals Fugitive Task Force received information that placed Bryant in a house at 8 Griffin Street in Savannah , Georgia . With the assistance of a SCMPD K-9 Unit, Marshals Task Force members converged on the Griffin Street address. The house was surrounded and after numerous attempts to get someone to answer the front door, a female finally opened the door and Bryant was arrested in the bathroom area of the home. Bryant was arrested without incident and transported to the SCMPD Headquarters at the request of detectives.
Annually, investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in the apprehension of over 36, 000 federal fugitives. More federal fugitives are arrested by the Marshals Service than all other federal agencies combined.
