A Pennsylvania man who was a fugitive was indicted on
federal firearms charges.
Shawn Christy, 27, of Macadoo, Pennsylvania, was charged
with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a fugitive from
justice.
Christy had become a fugitive from justice fleeing from
charges out of the Middle District of Pennsylvania for threats against the
President and interstate communication of threats. Christy was located in Ohio
after an extensive manhunt. Christy was found to be in possession of a firearm
and ammunition when he was arrested on Sept. 21, 2018.
If convicted, the defendant’s sentence will be determined by
the Court after a review of factors unique to this case, including the
defendant’s prior criminal record, if any, the defendant’s role in the offense
and the characteristics of the violation.
In all cases, the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and, in
most cases, it will be less than the maximum.
The matter is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney
Teresa Riley following an investigation by the FBI and ATF.
An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of
guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair
trial in which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a
reasonable doubt.
