Harrisburg, PA – United States Marshal Martin J. Pane
announced today that the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force
arrested Gregory Johnson, 25, in Columbia, SC.
On April 7, 2015, the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP)
obtained an arrest warrant charging Johnson with Robbery – inflict threat
immediate bodily injury, theft by unlawful taking of movable property and
simple assault. PSP requested the assistance of the USMS in the Middle District
of Pennsylvania in locating and arresting Johnson. Marshals in Harrisburg
developed information that Johnson may have fled to South Carolina and sent an
investigative lead to the USMS office in South Carolina.
On April 14, Deputy U.S. Marshals and task force officers
out of SC, located and arrested Johnson in the 100 block of Gadsden Street in
Chester, SC. Johnson was turned over to local authorities pending further
judicial proceedings.
United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “The U.S.
Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force places a high priority on fugitive cases
in which there is the use or threat of violence against innocent victims. Our
community will not be a safe haven for those charged with such violent crimes.
We will seek them out.”
The USMS worked jointly in this investigation with personnel
from the Pennsylvania State Police and Deputy Marshals out of the District of South
Carolina along with its task force partners.
