Wever Man Sentenced to 120 Months Imprisonment for Drug and Firearm Offenses

DAVENPORT, IA – On August 15, 2012, James Earl Arnold, age 41, of Wever, Iowa, was sentenced to 120 months imprisonment, having previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to manufacture and distribute 50 grams of methamphetamine and possession of a sawed-off shotgun, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. Senior United States District Judge Robert W. Pratt also sentenced Arnold to 5 years supervised release following imprisonment and ordered him to pay $200 to the Crime Victims Fund.

On November 30, 2010, law enforcement officers searched Arnold's residence. They found evidence of methamphetamine manufacturing and firearms, that is, a .22 caliber rifle and a sawed-off shotgun. At the time Arnold entered his guilty plea, he admitted that between November of 2008 and November 30, 2010, he conspired with others to manufacture and distribute at least 50 grams of actual methamphetamine. Arnold also admitted that he possessed the shotgun.

The case was investigated by the Lee County, Iowa, Narcotics Task Force and the ATF, and it was prosecuted by the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
