Sikeston Man Charged with Lebanon Bank Robbery

SPRINGFIELD, MO—David M. Ketchmark, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Sikeston, Missouri man was charged in federal court today for the robbery of a Lebanon, Missouri bank.

Larry Gene Enloe, 52, of, Sikeston, was charged in a criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court in Springfield, Missouri, with stealing $2,350 from Commerce Bank on Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Enloe remains in federal custody pending a detention hearing.

According to an affidavit filed in support of the federal criminal complaint, Enloe entered Commerce Bank at 224 W. Commercial St. in Lebanon, at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Enloe allegedly approached the teller counter and presented a bank robbery note (written on the back of a Walmart receipt) to the teller. The note read, “10 seconds. Put all your money in the bag now. No one gets hurt.”

The teller handed Enloe $2,350, the affidavit says, and he put the cash in a white plastic bag and walked out of the bank.

While conducting a search of the area, Lebanon police officers located Enloe near a local bus station. Enloe closely resembled the robber from the bank’s surveillance photos, the affidavit says. He was questioned and transported to the police station where he was searched; officers found $2,350 hidden in his socks.

Ketchmark cautioned that the charge contained in this complaint is simply an accusation and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charge must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven Mohlhenrich. It was investigated by the Lebanon, Missouri Police Department and the FBI.
