United States Attorney Brendan V.
Johnson announced that Jamie Iron Shell, age 26, of St. Francis, South Dakota,
appeared before United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange on August 20,
2012, and pled guilty to concealing person from arrest. The maximum penalty
upon conviction is one year in custody, a $100,000 fine, or both.
The conviction stems from an incident
that took place on March 30, 2012, when federal agents arrived at Iron Shell’s
residence to serve an arrest warrant on an individual. Iron Shell told the
agents that individual had departed her residence when in fact he was actually
inside her residence.
The investigation was conducted by the
Federal Bureau of Investigation and Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement
Services. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tim
Maher.
A presentence investigation was ordered,
and a sentencing date was set for November 6, 2012. The defendant was remanded
to the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing.
