Suspect Cuts Through Walls in
Vacant Buildings to Break Into Banks
The most recent break-in occurred in the
early morning hours of Friday, August 24, 2012, at the M&T Bank located at
1420 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Washington, D.C. The other break-ins occurred in the
early morning hours of Friday, August 17, 2012, and Tuesday, May 24, 2011, both
at the Bank of America located at 2631 Connecticut Ave. NW, Washington, D.C.
The suspect in each of the break-ins
entered the bank by breaking into a vacant adjoining building and cutting a
hole in the wall in order to gain access to the bank. In the two most recent
break-ins, surveillance footage has captured images of a suspect wearing a
white Tyvek suit.
The FBI/MPD Violent Crimes Task Force
requests that anyone with information call 202-278-2000 (FBI) or MPD’s tip line
at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the
police department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
