BISMARCK—U.S. Attorney Timothy Q. Purdon announced that on August 27, 2012, Jeffrey K. LaVallie, 41, of Belcourt, North Dakota, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Daniel L. Hovland on a charge of assault resulting in serious bodily injury. LaVallie pleaded guilty to the charge on April 23, 2012.

Judge Hovland sentenced LaVallie to five years and 10 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release. LaVallie was ordered to pay restitution of $14,772.52 and a special assessment of $100 to the Crime Victim’s Fund.
