Del Rio, Texas – On Sunday, August 26,
U.S. Customs and Border Protection Del Rio Border Patrol agents received
information of a possible drowning victim who was adrift in the Rio Grande
River, approximately one mile north of the Del Rio port of entry. Del Rio
Station Border Patrol agents responded and rescued an unconscious woman who was
clinging to the river cane vegetation along the U.S. river bank.
The woman was evaluated and immediately
transferred to Del Rio Emergency Medical Services, who then transported her to
Val Verde Regional Medical Center for medical attention. She was later released
to the custody of CBP Border Patrol.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged
with the management, control, and protection of our Nation's borders at and
between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and
terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
