The United States Attorney’s Office for
the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that two major figures involved
in a cocaine distribution operation in Carlisle were sentenced.
Gary Stackfield, age 59, and Charles
Green, age 55, were sentenced by United States District Court Senior Judge
Sylvia Rambo. On August 1, Judge Rambo sentenced Stackfield to an 84 month-term
of imprisonment, four years of supervised release, and a $1,000 fine. On August
6, Green was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, three years of supervised
release, and a $300 fine.
According to United States Attorney
Peter J. Smith, in June 2011, 19 Carlisle residents and one individual from
Temple Hills, Maryland, were charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine,
unlawful distribution of at least 500 grams of cocaine, and using the telephone
and cell phones to commit those crimes.
The evidence established that Gary
Stackfield distributed over eight kilograms of cocaine that was supplied to him
by co-defendant Kevin Pearson between May 2010 through June 2011. Pearson
supplied Gary Stackfield with cocaine that would then be distributed to and by
the other named defendants. Transactions would be routinely set up through the
use of a telephone or cell phone. The individuals charged include:
■Justin Thompson: Pleaded guilty,
awaiting sentencing;
■Aunye Stackfield: Sentenced to 15
months’ imprisonment, one year supervised release, $300 fine;
■Demarao Gumby: Pleaded guilty, awaiting
sentencing;
■John Mowery: Pleaded guilty, awaiting
sentencing;
■Korey Wooten: Pleaded guilty, awaiting
sentencing;
■Heather Middleton: Sentenced to nine
months’ imprisonment, one year supervised release;
■Nick Vrataric: Pleaded guilty, awaiting

■Charles Green: Sentenced to 24 months’
imprisonment, three years’ supervised release, and a $300 fine;
■Starlene Middleton: Pleaded guilty,

■Michael Konetsco: Sentenced to two
years’ probation; and
■Kevin Pearson: Sentenced to 87 months’
imprisonment, four years’ supervised release.
The following individuals originally
charged as part of the federal indictment have pleaded guilty in the Cumberland
County Court of Common Pleas to a charge of simple possession of cocaine:
Walter James Fickes, Roy Singer, Robert Wesley Green, Bernadette Green, Arnold
Ashwell, John Zaengle, Joseph Mowery, and Daniel Hocker. All were sentenced to
a probation with the exception of Ashwell, who was sentenced to six months’
imprisonment.
The case was the result of a coordinated
investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Harrisburg Resident
Office; the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Harrisburg Resident Agency; the
Harrisburg Office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives;
the Pennsylvania State Police; the Cumberland County District Attorney’s
Office; the Cumberland County Drug Task Force; and the Carlisle Police
Department. Prosecution of these cases is assigned to Assistant United States
Attorney William A. Behe, who is assigned to the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s Organized
