United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rosebud, South Dakota, man charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm was sentenced on July 30, 2012, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Wayne Roy Besherse, a/k/a Wayne Roy Stover, age 48, was sentenced to 4 months of home confinement, 2 years of probation, 40 hours of community service, and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.
Besherse was indicted by a federal grand jury on December 14, 2011, and pled guilty to the charge on May 9, 2012.
On June 15, 1982, Besherse was convicted of a felony in Washington State. On July 19, 2011, Besherse possessed a firearm at his residence in Todd County, South Dakota.
The investigation was conducted by the ATF and Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher.
Besherse was released to home confinement.
