Conshohocken Man Charged with Child Pornography Offense

January 21, 2010 - Charles A. Baumhauer was charged today by Information with possessing images of child pornography, announced United States Attorney Michael L. Levy.

If convicted the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of 10 years' imprisonment, a life term of supervised release, including a mandatory minimum term of five years of supervised release, a $250,000 fine, and a $100 special assessment.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys' Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anthony G. Kyriakakis.
