January 22, 2010 - The United Bank of El Paso, 9801 Gateway West, El Paso, Texas, was robbed at 12:17 p.m. today. The subject walked into the bank and went to the deposit area where he wrote a note. He then approached a teller and gave the teller the note which asked for all the hundreds. The man then left the bank running east.
Subject Description:
• Hispanic male, late 30s
• 5’5”-5’6” in height, light skin, mustache, bald
• prescription glasses
• black over olive green ski jacket, red t-shirt, blue jeans, white tennis shoes
This subject is suspected to be the same person who robbed the First Federal Bank, 7015 North Mesa, on January 12 and was nicknamed the Boomerang Bandit. On January 15, Elias Renova Camacho was arrested for the First Federal robbery based on probable cause. Further investigation determined that he was not the robber. The U.S. Attorney’s office began paperwork today to dismiss the January 12 bank robbery charges against Camacho.
This case is being worked by the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force, which includes the El Paso Police Department and El Paso Sheriff’s Department. If anyone was in the vicinity of this bank, located at Resler and Mesa, and has information about this robbery, please call the FBI at 915-832-5000.
