U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Arrests Violent Offender in Topeka, KS



Topeka, KS – Tremain Vaughn Scott was arrested in Topeka, KS on January 21, 2015. Scott, age 33, was wanted by the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office since August 2014 and by the Missouri Department of Corrections for a parole violation since August 2014. The charges resulted from an incident that occurred on August 19, 2014, in which Scott was in an argument with his girlfriend. Scott is accused of dragging his girlfriend down the road while she hung from the side of the vehicle. Scott was charged with aggravated battery, aggravated intimidation of a witness, criminal threat, and criminal damage to property. Scott was also being sought by the FBI Violent Task Force for questioning in reference to a shooting that occurred on December 25, 2014.

The Kansas Apprehension Task Force went to the 3000 block of SE 12 Ct. in Topeka, KS. Task Force members made contact with the resident and located Scott hiding in a closet. Scott was taken into custody and transported to the Shawnee County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bond. Consent to search the residence was obtained by FBI Violent Task Force members and a fully loaded 9 mm handgun along with $1000 cash were located inside the residence. FBI Violent Task Force members filed a complaint charging Scott with felon in possession of a firearm.

The Kansas Apprehension Fugitive Task Force is comprised of U.S. Marshals, Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office, Topeka Police Department, and the Kansas Department of Corrections.
