1st Degree Kidnapping Suspect Arrested by U.S. Marshals in Durham, North Carolina



Durham, NC – Yesterday morning at 10:20 AM, Tyrone Stanback Jr., a 22 year old, Black Male was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF) and the Durham Police Department. On January 16, 2015, warrants were obtained by the Durham Police Department for Stanback for Assault Serious Bodily Injury, First Degree Kidnapping, Assault by Strangulation, and several misdemeanor charges involving Misdemeanor Child Abuse, Assault with a Deadly Weapon Minor Present and Communicating Threats. It is alleged that Stanback punched the victim in the face and head numerous times, kicking, dragging, strangling, and cutting the victim with a knife while she was holding an infant child. The victim suffered swelling to her eyes and face, a laceration above her eye and an orbital fracture.

Stanback was located by investigators in a motel room at the Red Roof Inn at 4405 Highway 55 in Durham. Stanback’s prior criminal history consists of Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Domestic Violence, and several misdemeanor charges.

The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force for the Middle District of North Carolina is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service, Chapel Hill Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston-Salem Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Department of Community Corrections – Probation & Parole
