Pittsburgh, PA – United States Marshal Steve Frank announces
the arrest of Allegheny County Police homicide suspect Roman Jones. Jones was
apprehended at approximately 12:30 pm this afternoon by members of the United
States Marshals Service Mountain State Fugitive Task Force (MSFTF) in
Shinnston, WV. Jones, age 23, was charged by the Allegheny County Police on
January, 21, 2015 with criminal homicide, criminal attempt-criminal homicide,
aggravated assault and carrying a firearm without a license. These charges stem
from a January 20, 2015 incident in which Jones and co-defendant Jonathan “B.J”
Coles are alleged to have shot and killed 24 year old William “Billy” Doyle and
wounded two others outside the Crawford Village housing complex in McKeesport,
PA. Jones was last known to reside in Clairton, PA and was known to frequent
the McKeesport area.
On January 21, 2015, the Allegheny County Police Department
requested the assistance of the Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force
(WPAFTF) with apprehending JONES. WPAFTF Investigators developed information
that Jones was in the Clarksburg, WV area and forwarded this information to the
MSFTF for further investigation. Jones was arrested by U.S. Marshals Task Force
officers and West Virginia State Troopers without incident at a trailer in the
Sunshine Mobile Home Park in Shinnston, WV. Investigators recovered a large
amount of heroin and approximately $7,000.00 dollars in U.S. currency
subsequent to Jones’ arrest. Coles has not been captured to date and remains a
fugitive.
The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force is comprised of
officers from the Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Board of Probation
and Parole, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, Allegheny County Sheriffs, and
Westmoreland County. These agencies, along with the United States Attorney’s
Office, are participating members of the U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania
Fugitive Task Force (WPAFTF). .
