Burlington, VT - The U.S. Marshals Service Vermont Violent
Offender Task Force (VVOTF) arrested a Vermont fugitive who was wanted for
Aggravated Domestic Assault-1st Degree, amongst other charges.
Derrick Morin, 31, of Williston, Vermont was arrested in
Benson, Vermont on January 16, 2015, when confronted by members of the VVOTF.
Morin was wanted on three active warrants in Chittenden County and had been on
the run since late November, 2014. Morin’s warrants were related to a charge of
1st Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault, Possession of Cocaine and two counts of
Driving with a Suspended License. His whereabouts were unknown.
The Williston Police Department contacted the U.S. Marshals
Service on January 12, 2015, seeking their assistance in locating Morin, as
Morin was actively evading authorities and living on the run. While on the run,
Morin’s travels had taken him out of Vermont, and when apprehended Morin was
hours away from again fleeing the state.
Morin was transported to the Chittenden County Superior
Court, Criminal Division, where he was held without bail for a probation
violation.
Morin’s arrest was a result of a culmination of
investigative efforts by the U.S. Marshals VVOTF, the Vermont State Police and
Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Enforcement and Removal
Operations (ERO).
