occur in Laredo North, West and Hebbronville Stations
Laredo, Texas – Laredo Sector Border
Patrol Agents seized more than 4,112 pounds of marijuana in five cases that
occurred over the weekend.
Agents assigned to the Laredo North
station are credited with making the larger of the seizures. The case occurred
as agents were working at the Interstate Highway 35 checkpoint. Agents
performed an immigration inspection on the driver of a tractor-trailer; a
Border Patrol canine team detected the possible presence of hidden contraband
or people.
Agents searched the trailer and found 74
bundles. The bundles contained marijuana with a total weight of 2,116 pounds
and an estimated street value of $1,693,280.
Agents patrolling the Hebbronville area
seized 747 pounds combined in two separate cases. Both seizures had an
estimated street value of $597,600.00
The last two seizures occurred as agents
from the Laredo West Station were patrolling the North West area of town, where
they were able to seize 100 bundles combined. The bundles contained marijuana
with a total weight of 1,249 pounds and an estimated street value of
$1,000,480.
