From Wedding Bells to Jail Bells

Roswell, NM – On October 31, 2011, United States Marshals in Roswell, NM arrested another New Mexico’s Most Wanted fugitive last night during the trick or treat hours. Deputy Marshals responded to the 300 block of W. Matthews in reference to information received from a credible source about violent gang fugitive Daniel Jojola. A team of law enforcement officers made up of Marshals, Roswell Police Officers, Chaves County Metro Narcotics Unit, and Special Agents from the FBI and ATF, and New Mexico State Probation and Parole, surrounded the residence where Jojola was staying. When law enforcement officers made their presence known at the front door, Jojola attempted to flee out the rear of the residence. Jojola was taken into custody and found in possession of methamphetamine and a 9mm handgun. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms are pursuing new Federal charges on Jojola.

During the arrest, Deputies came across paperwork that Jojola got married earlier that day in Carrizozo, NM. Jojola and his new bride drove back to Roswell to celebrate when they were seen going into the home on W. Matthews Street.

Jojola was considered armed and dangerous and is associated with the “Eastside Chihuahuita” gang. Jojola has an extensive criminal history including possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and four burglary convictions. The 5th Judicial District Court of New Mexico issued a warrant for Jojola”s arrest on September 20, 2011, and on October 26, 2011, Deputy United States Marshals placed Jojola’s case on the New Mexico’s Most Wanted list.
