The FBI and Chula Vista Police are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the unknown male who tried to rob a teller at the North Island Credit Union, 45 North Broadway, Suite A, Chula Vista, California, on Wednesday, August 10, 2011.
On Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at approximately 12:20 p.m., an unknown male entered the North Island Credit Union, 45 North Broadway, Suite A, Chula Vista, California. The suspect entered the credit union lobby and walked up to a teller window. The teller asked the suspect if he needed help. The suspect told the teller he would be right back and left the credit union.
A short time later the suspect returned and entered the teller line once again. The suspect was called to a teller window. Upon arriving at the teller window, the suspect held up a small white piece of paper demanding money in specific denominations. The teller was confused as to what the suspect was trying to do and questioned the suspect’s intent. The suspect made a verbal demand to the teller at which time the teller walked away from the teller window. The suspect then ran out the emergency exit of the bank and fled in an east bound direction. The suspect did not receive any money.
Witnesses describe the suspect as follows:
Sex: Male
Race: White/Hispanic
Age: Late 40s to early 50s
Height: Approximately 5’4” to 5’6”
Build: Average with pot belly
Hair/Coloring: Curly gray, possibly balding
Facial Hair: Gray mustache, weathered face
Clothing: Dark blue baseball cap with a “Chargers” lightning bolt on the front of cap, dingy tan or white colored t-shirt with a large screen on the right side of the shirt, dark colored pants, possibly blue jeans, black belt, and black boots
