Timothy Miller Indicted on Charge of Aiding in International Parental Kidnapping

The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont stated that Timothy Miller, 34, of Managua, Nicaragua, was indicted on May 12, 2011, on the charge of aiding in international parental kidnapping. A federal grand jury sitting in Burlington handed down the single-count indictment of Miller. Miller was released pending trial by the Hon. John M. Conroy, United States Magistrate Judge, on conditions.

The indictment charging Miller with aiding in international parental kidnapping is an accusation only; he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. If convicted, Miller faces a maximum penalty of three years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines. The actual sentence, in the event of conviction, will be determined by the court with reference to the advisory Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

The investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the United States Marshals Service.
