United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Porcupine man charged with second-degree murder was sentenced on May 20, 2011, by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Lucas New Holy, age 20, was sentenced to 240 months of imprisonment, five years of supervised release, and a $100 victim assessment.
New Holy was indicted by a federal grand jury on November 17, 2010. On November 7, 2010, near Porcupine, New Holy struck another man repeatedly in the head with a baseball bat, killing him. New Holy pled guilty on February 22, 2011.
This case was investigated by the FBI, BIA, and OST-DPS. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert A. Mandel prosecuted the case.
