Granjeno, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Anzalduas International Bridge detained a man and woman found in possession of counterfeit travel visas.
On May 3, CBP officers working at the Anzalduas International Bridge came in contact with a northbound taxicab. The male passenger was identified as a 29-year-old Mexican citizen from Huetamo, Michoacán, Mexico. The female passenger was identified as a 24-year-old Mexican citizen, also from Huetamo, Michoacán, Mexico. A CBP officer referred the couple for further inspection. CBP officers discovered that the B1 and B2 visas attached to their Mexican passports were counterfeit.
The couple has been detained by CBP officers on violations of immigration law and continues to investigate this matter.
Hector A. Mancha, CBP port director, Hidalgo-Pharr said, “Our CBP officers assigned to perform enforcement work in the secondary inspection area continue intercepting alleged counterfeit travel documents, alleged child smuggling attempts and alleged impostors.” Mancha further said, “I commend our officers for a job well done.”
