Two Plead Guilty to Federal Charges in Connection with Madison Bank Robbery

May 20, 2010 - MADISON, WI—Stephen P. Sinnott, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that two individuals have pleaded guilty in federal court to charges related to the February 9, 2010 robbery of the Anchor Bank on Raymond Road in Madison. Gregory Allen, 28, Memphis, Tenn., pleaded guilty yesterday before U. S. District Court Judge Barbara B. Crabb. His brother Raymond Allen, 39, Poynette, Wis., pleaded guilty on Friday, May 14, to aiding in the concealment of the stolen bank money.

A third person alleged to be involved in the robbery, Jennifer DeBoef, 33, Poynette, is scheduled for a jury trial before Judge Crabb on July 26, 2010. At the plea hearing, Gregory Allen admitted that he was the lone robber who entered Anchor Bank on the morning of February 9, jumped over the teller counter and stuffed cash from two teller drawers into a bag while armed with a pellet gun that looked like a handgun to bank employees.

Gregory Allen faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison for his conviction on the robbery charge. He is scheduled to be sentenced on August 6, 2010. Raymond Allen faces a maximum penalty of 10 years for his role in helping to conceal the money when he is sentenced on July 29, 2010.

The charges against them are the result of an investigation conducted by the Madison Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Columbia County Sheriff’s Department, Poynette Police Department, and Portage Police Department. The prosecution of this case is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert A. Anderson.
