February 10, 2010 - Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, February 8, 2010, that John D. Malden, a resident of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced in federal court in Johnstown to 87 months in prison and 10 years' supervised release on his conviction of violating various federal narcotics laws.
United States District Judge Kim R. Gibson imposed the sentence on Malden, age 35.
According to information presented to the court by, Assistant United States Attorney John J. Valkovci, Jr., on July 13, 2006, Malden distributed less than five grams of cocaine base, commonly known as "crack," and on July 15, 2006, he distributed less than five grams of cocaine base and possessed with the intent to distribute 50 grams or more of cocaine base. In addition, Malden also distributed five grams or more of cocaine base on October 9, 2007.
Mr. Cessar commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation/Laurel Highlands Resident Agency and the Cambria County Drug Task Force for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Malden.
