February 10, 2010 - Nora R. Dannehy, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, today announced a federal grand jury sitting in New Haven has returned a two-count indictment charging SEASON HOPE EAGLEMAN, 24, a federal prisoner at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Danbury, with the assault of two Bureau of Prisons correctional officers on December 2, 2009.
The indictment was returned on January 21. Today, EAGLEMAN appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Thomas P. Smith in Hartford and pleaded not guilty to both counts in the indictment.
If convicted, EAGLEMAN faces a maximum term of imprisonment of eight years and a fine of up to $250,000, on each count.
U.S. Attorney Dannehy stressed that an indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. The defendant is entitled to a fair trial at which it is the Government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anastasia Enos King.
