FBI and Colorado Springs Police Department Announce Arrest of Jason Robert Lopez

February 1, 2010 - The FBI and Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) are pleased to announce arrest of Jason Robert Lopez, 38 years of age. Lopez was arrested this afternoon in the area of 10211 Ura Lane, in Thornton, Colorado. Members of the Southern Colorado Safe Streets Task Force, Aurora Police Department, Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force, Thornton Police Department and FBI SWAT participated in locating and arresting Lopez. Lopez was arrested after a short foot chase and is being treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. No other injuries were reported. It is expected he will be held in the Adams County Jail pending extradition to El Paso County.

Lopez is wanted by the CSPD for the Aggravated Robbery that occurred at Wal-Mart, 8250 Razorback Road, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on January 5, 2010. Carmen Angela Quintana, 37 years of age, is still wanted by the CSPD in connection to this same Aggravated Robbery (see link to CSPD press release below for further details).

There are no federal charges on Lopez. All questions pertaining to the charges or violation Lopez is suspected of committing are to be directed to the Colorado Springs Police Department at (719)444-7000.

The Southern Colorado Safe Streets Task Force is a partnership between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, Bureau of Prisons, Colorado Department of Corrections, Colorado Springs Police Department, El Paso County District Attorney's Office and the FBI.
