Harrisburg, PA – Today, U.S. Marshal Martin Pane announced
the arrest of Anthony Baker, wanted by authorities in Baltimore, Md. on
numerous sex offense charges.
On April 6, 2015, the Baltimore Police Department obtained
an arrest warrant charging Baker with eleven separate sex offenses. On April
21, the Baltimore Police Department requested the assistance of the U.S.
Marshals Service (USMS) Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) to
locate and apprehend Baker.
USMS CARFTF developed information that Baker may have fled
to Pennsylvania. An investigative lead was sent to the U.S. Marshals Service
Fugitive Task Force in Harrisburg.
On May 4, Baker was arrested in the 200 block of South
Belvidere Street in York by USMS task force personnel from the Middle District
of Pennsylvania. Baker was turned over to local authorities pending judicial
proceedings in the case.
United States Marshal Pane stated, “The U.S. Marshals
Service recognizes the importance of bringing to justice as quickly as possible
those charged with serious sex crimes against children. We give these type
cases our utmost attention.”
The USMS worked jointly in this investigation with officers
from the York City Police Department, York County Sheriff’s Office, Baltimore
Police Department and the USMS Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force.
