Winston-Salem, NC – On 5/12/2015 around 6:30pm, Tyshon
Fuller McCray, a 19 year old male, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Joint
Fugitive Task Force (JFTF) and the Winston-Salem Police Department SWAT team.
McCray was wanted by the Winston-Salem Police Department for Robbery with a
dangerous weapon and First Degree Kidnapping stemming from a robbery and
shooting incident.
On 5/10/2015, the Winston-Salem Police Department responded
to an armed robbery and shooting in the 2600 block of Stockton Street and found
the victim, Chester Garnes injured. Mr. Garnes was transported to the hospital
and where he later died. McCray was developed as a suspect and warrants were
issued for Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and First Degree Kidnapping.
On 5/12/2015, The JFTF and the Winston-Salem Police
Department SWAT team conducted surveillance in the 2200 block of Willard Road.
McCray was observed walking towards a vehicle and arrested without incident. He
was transported to the Forsyth County Detention Center where his charges were
upgraded to Murder.
The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force for the Middle
District of North Carolina is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshals
Service, Chapel Hill Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro
Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston-Salem Police
Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Highway
Patrol and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Department of
Community Corrections – Probation & Parole.
