U.S. Marshals Capture Violent Sex Offender After a Year on the Run

Richmond, VA – U.S. Marshal Robert Mathieson announces the capture of Allen Robert Turner. This 50-year-old fugitive was wanted on charges stemming from a felony rape conviction which occurred over 10 years ago.

In 2000, Turner was convicted of felony rape in the City of Richmond and sentenced to 10 years of incarceration in the Virginia Department of Corrections. He was released on supervised probation in 2008 and was required to register as a sex offender with the Virginia State Police. On January 2, the Virginia State Police charged this fugitive with failure to register as a sex offender and providing false information to the Sex Offender Registry. Additionally, Turner was charged with violation of probation for failing to report to the Richmond Probation Office. Turner, a Sexually Violent Predator, has been on the run for over a year.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Richmond adopted this fugitive case last month. Over the past few weeks, the team of law enforcement officers worked together to develop information leading to an address in the City of Richmond where Turner was donating blood platelets for cash.

Early this morning, Deputy U.S. Marshals and task force officers (TFOs) surrounded the facility, conducted a brief search and located this fugitive among other donors. Turner was seated in a reclining chair with an IV in his arm donating blood. Investigators informed the fugitive that they would allow the process to finish, but that he was under arrest. Turner was in the process of texting someone at the time of the arrest. Turner handed the phone to a deputy who observed the following words on the screen: “They Got Me.”

The U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force in Richmond consists of several law enforcement agencies in the greater Richmond and Tri-Cities areas. They target and arrest the most violent fugitives in the region.
