SHERMAN, TX—A 33-year-old Plano, Texas
man has been indicted following an incident involving an explosive device in
the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales.
Anson Chi was indicted by a federal
grand jury today and charged with possession of an unregistered firearm or
explosive device.
According to the indictment, on June 18,
2012, Chi is alleged to have possessed a destructive device or explosive that
was not registered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.
If convicted, Chi faces up to 10 years
in federal prison.
This case is being investigated by the
FBI, the FBI-Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Plano Police Department and is
being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney M. Andrew Stover.
It is important to note a grand jury
indictment is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent until
proven guilty in a court of law.
