Man Held in Albuquerque Armed Bank Robbery

Georges M. Hyatt, 45, of Moriarty, is being held in connection with the armed robbery Monday of New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union located at 6501 Indian School Road NE in Albuquerque.

Hyatt is expected to appear in U.S. District Court in Albuquerque on Friday.

The Albuquerque Police Department’s Repeat Offender Project team arrested Hyatt at a motel in the city Wednesday.

The U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services Office also assisted in the investigation.

Witnesses say a heavily tattooed, barefoot man entered New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union, put a handgun on a teller’s counter, and demanded money.

He took an undisclosed amount of money and left in a vehicle.

The FBI is investigating whether the same suspect also robbed the Bank of the West branch located at 5401 Gibson Boulevard SE on Tuesday.
