$1,000 REWARD INFORMATION SOUGHT IN THE MURDER OF JONATHAN LEE BROWN

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’s Lemon Grove detectives are asking for the public’s assistance to help identify and locate the person/persons responsible for the murder of Jonathan Lee Brown.

On April 21, 2011 at about 10:20 P.M., Jonathan Lee Brown and two friends were leaving the Moonlight Liquor Store, located at 101 South Meadowbrook Drive in San Diego, in a dark blue colored 1999 Honda Accord. Jonathan Brown was the front passenger in the vehicle. As they were leaving the parking lot the driver noticed that a faded brown or tan mid-1990’s Nissan Maxima was following them.

When they reached the intersection of Worthington Street and Noeline Avenue in Spring Valley they noticed that the Maxima pulled up next to them. Jonathan’s friend (the driver) heard a single gunshot but could not determine where it had come from. A few seconds later there were 5 to 6 more shots. The occupants in the Maxima then sped away towards Elkelton Boulevard.

The driver was hit in the head but the bullet did not penetrate his skull. Jonathan was also hit in the head suffering serious injuries. The third passenger was not injured.

They drove to a local hospital where they were treated for their injuries. Jonathan was transported to a trauma hospital where he later died of his injuries.

The San Diego Sheriff’s Department is asking for any witnesses to the crime to come forward and for anyone with information on the identity and or location of the person/persons responsible for this crime to call the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477. The qualification of any person(s) for the reward and the amount of the reward for any person(s) so qualifying will be determined by San Diego County Crime Stoppers, Inc, in its sole discretion.
