Valerie Parlave Named Special Agent in Charge of the Little Rock Division

Director Robert S. Mueller, III has named Valerie Parlave special agent in charge (SAC) of the FBI’s Little Rock Division. Ms. Parlave most recently served as acting SAC of the Washington Field Office’s (WFO) Criminal Division.

Ms. Parlave entered on duty in 1991 and was assigned to the Las Vegas Division after completing training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. She served as a case agent on violent crime and fugitive investigations until February 1993, when she was assigned to the division’s violent gang and drug squad. In that role, she coordinated two violent gang and drug task forces, led task force investigations, supervised undercover buys, executed felony warrants, conducted wiretap investigations, and acted as an undercover agent.

In August 2000, she was promoted to supervisory special agent in the Criminal Investigative Division at FBI Headquarters, where she developed operational policies and strategic planning. In July 2002, Ms. Parlave was named an assistant inspector in the Office of Inspections to analyze division and field office performance. When she transferred to the Miami Division in December 2003, she supervised a violent gang squad and was promoted to assistant special agent in charge in September 2006.

In July 2008, Ms. Parlave was named section chief of the Employee Development and Selection Program in the Human Resources Division, where she managed employee and leadership development and the promotion process for special agents, intelligence analysts, and the Senior Executive Service. Since March 2010, Ms. Parlave has been the acting SAC for the WFO Criminal Division, where she supervises more than 200 agents and 100 task force officers.

Ms. Parlave graduated from Colgate University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and holds a Juris Doctor degree from Albany Law School. She was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1991.
