ANCHORAGE, AK—United States Attorney Karen L. Loeffler announced that on June 17, 2010, a federal grand jury in Anchorage indicted Louis Dorian Spencer, Jr., of Anchorage, Alaska, for one count of distributing crack cocaine and two counts of distributing powder cocaine.
The three-count indictment names Spencer, age 32, as the sole defendant.
The indictment alleges that Spencer distributed over five grams of crack cocaine in August 2008, and distributed cocaine on two occasions in September 2008.
Assistant United States Attorney Yvonne Lamoureux, who presented the case to the grand jury, indicated that the crack distribution offense carries a maximum penalty of 40 years' imprisonment, a $2 million fine, and five years' supervised release. The two cocaine distribution offenses are punishable by up to 20 years in prison, a $1 million fine, and three years' supervised release.
The FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force conducted the investigation that led to the indictment in this case.
An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
