June 17, 2010 - Richard K. Ruminski, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Milwaukee office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Menominee Tribal Police Chief Mark Waukau announced the arrest of Kevin E. Lyons, Jr. (age 30), a Native American Indian and a resident of the Menominee Indian Reservation. Lyons is charged with assaulting a 31-year-old male victim with a dangerous weapon, resulting in serious bodily injury.
Count One: On or about June 11, 2010, assault with a dangerous weapon, specifically a large knife-like weapon and its hardened sheath, and with the intent to harm the victim, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 1153 and 113 (a)(3).
Count Two: On or about June 11, 2010, assault resulting in serious bodily injury to victim, including but not limited to, multiple head lacerations and skull fractures, blood loss, a closed head injury, a broken hand, and extreme physical pain, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 1153 and 113 (a)(3).
Lyons is charged with allegedly stabbing the boyfriend of his cousin at her residence in the Rabbit Ridge area of the Menominee Indian Reservation, on the evening of June 11, 2010. Allegedly, Lyons accused the victim of having an affair with Lyons’ girlfriend. After an argument with the victim it is reported that Lyons left the residence; only to return with a large knife, and proceeded to attack. The violent altercation ended when Lyons’ cousin managed to take the large knife from Lyons and threw it outside.
Lyons left the residence on his all-terrain vehicle (ATV). The victim was transported to Theda Clark Hosiptal in Neenah for treatment to the severe injuries suffered during the attack.
Lyons was eventually located and arrested without incident at an apartment in Appleton, WI on June 15, 2010.
The public is reminded that an arrest warrant is merely a method by which to charge an individual with criminal conduct. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
