Lukeville, Ariz. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Lukeville port of entry arrest a man for attempting to smuggle drugs into the United States.
“Excellent team work lead to this seizure and arrest,” said acting Port Director Efrain Solis Jr.
On June 2, a 40-year-old applied for entry to the United States driving a Chevrolet Suburban when CBP officers noticed discrepancies. The officers subsequently referred the man to the secondary inspection area where four metal boxes were discovered within the gas tank. The boxes contained more than 234 pounds of marijuana which was seized along with the vehicle.
The man was immediately arrested and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
