June 4, 2010 - TYRONE MORGAN, age 37, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was sentenced today to an eighteen- (18)-month term of imprisonment by United States District Judge Carl J. Barbier, announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten. Additionally, Judge Barbier ordered that MORGAN be placed on three (3) years of supervised release following his term of imprisonment.
According to court records, on approximately May 4, 2009, MORGAN, who was a contractor employed at the Marathon Petroleum Refinery in Garyville, Louisiana, telephoned security personnel at the Refinery and falsely conveyed that the Refinery would be damaged or destroyed by explosives. MORGAN was charged with and pled guilty to one (1) count of violating Title 18, United States Code, Section 844(e), maliciously conveying false information.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Gregory M. Kennedy.
