Pine Ridge Man Sentenced for Drug Conspiracy
March 5, 2010 - United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Pine Ridge man charged with conspiracy to ddistribute a controlled substance was sentenced on March 1, 2010, by Chief U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier. Marvin Hernandez, age 40, was sentenced to 120 months of imprisonment, five years of supervised release, and a $100 victim assessment. Hernandez was indicted by a federal grand jury on September 24, 2008. Between 1999 and 2008, Hernandez aided in a conspiracy to obtain cocaine in Denver and resell it on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. On November 19, 2009, he pled guilty to the charge. This case was investigated by OST, BIA, ATF, and the FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark A. Vargo prosecuted the case. Hernandez was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
