March 18, 2010 - The FBI Salt Lake City Division, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Idaho Falls Police Department announce the arrest of Nathan Nicholas Helburn, wanted for homicide. Helburn was located and detained on March 18, 2010 in Cambodia and taken into custody by the Cambodian National Police. According to information filed in United States District Court, on March 11, 2010 Helburn was charged with Murder in the First Degree in Bonneville County, Idaho. A federal warrant for Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution was issued for Helburn.
Helburn is being held by Cambodian immigration authorities and details about his return to Idaho are being worked out. A number of agencies collaborated in the apprehension of Helburn. These agencies include the Idaho Falls Police Department, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Attaché Bangkok and its Phnom Pehn Office, the FBI Legal Attaché Office in Phnom Pehn, Cambodia, the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of State.
