March 5, 2010 - ST. LOUIS, MO—The United States Attorney’s Office announced that Carroll Parker entered a plea of guilty to charges of receiving and possessing child pornography.
CAROLL PARKER, Foristell, Missouri, pleaded guilty last Friday, February 26, to one felony count each of receipt and possession of child pornography. He appeared before United States District Judge Carol E. Jackson, who set sentencing for June 1, 2010.
Parker now faces a penalty range of five to 20 years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000 for receipt of child pornography; and a maximum of 10 years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000 for possession of child pornography.
This case is brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. This case was investigated by the St. Charles County Cyber Crime Unit and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Carrie Costantin is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
