Cleveland Woman Charged in Scheme to Defraud JP Morgan Chase
March 5, 2010 - Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, announced today that Tiffany Hunt, a 23-year-old female from Cleveland, was charged with financial institution fraud for her scheme to defraud JP Morgan Chase, a federally insured bank, of $2,249.
The Indictment charges that from on or about September 14, 2009 through on or about October 13, 2009 in the Northern District of Ohio, Eastern Division, and elsewhere, Hunt, did knowingly execute and attempt to execute a scheme and artifice to defraud JP Morgan Chase Bank and to obtain monies, funds, credits, assets, securities, and other property owned by and under the custody and control of said financial institution by means of false and fraudulent pretenses, representations, and promises.
The actual sentence in this case will be determined by the Court after consideration of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines which depend upon a number of factors unique to each case, including the defendant’s prior criminal record, if any, the defendant’s role in the offense and the unique characteristics of the violation. In all cases, the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and, in most cases, it will be less than the maximum.
This case is being prosecuted by Northern District of Ohio Assistant United States Attorney Carol M. Skutnik. The case was investigated by the Cleveland office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
