Reno, NV – The Northern Nevada’s U.S. Marshals (USMS) led
fugitive task force, with assistance from the Regional Sex Offender
Notification Unit (RSONU) and Reno Police Department, arrested Nicholas M. Moss
(35) yesterday at 5:30 p.m. He was arrested without incident off of McCarran
Blvd. in northwest Reno. Moss was arrested for an outstanding first degree
sexual assault warrant issued by Sarpy County, Nebraska. In addition to the
Nebraska warrant, Moss is sought by Iowa authorities for allegations of
assault.
The Bellevue Police Department (Nebraska) requested the
assistance of the United States Marshals Service with the apprehension of Moss.
A coordinated investigative effort was conducted by U.S. Marshal’s in Nebraska,
Las Vegas, Reno and the Bellevue Police Department. Information was developed
that Moss, who was long time Reno resident, returned to the area and was in contact
with associates. The Reno investigation led to Monday’s surveillance during
which Moss was positively identified. He was subsequently arrested and booked
into the Washoe County Jail while awaiting extradition to Nebraska.
District of Nevada U.S. Marshal Christopher Hoye stated,
“Many fugitives attempt to run and hide. However, the united law enforcement
community has again brought another dangerous fugitive to justice. We value the
joint efforts of our partners who comprise the fugitive task force.”
The Northern Nevada U.S. Marshals Service led Fugitive
Taskforce is a partnership of full-time investigators from the United States
Marshals Service, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Nevada Department of Public
Safety (Probation & Parole), and Sparks Police Department. The Taskforce
combines the resources and expertise of local, state, and federal law
enforcement in a coordinated effort to arrest dangerous fugitives and pursue
sexual offenders wherever they are located.
