Webinar on Reducing Crime and Improving Public Trust
On Aug. 30,
2017, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern time, the Bureau of Justice Assistance
Smart Policing Initiative will present a webinar on "Reducing Crime and
Improving Public Trust through Collective Efficacy: Evidence from Miami and
Brooklyn Park." This webinar translates collective efficacy theory into
practice. It provides definitions of collective efficacy and informal social
control and how they relate to crime reduction, demonstrates the importance of
community building and describes how the police engage the community and build
relationships in high-crime neighborhoods. The webinar will include useful
examples from Miami-Dade County and Brooklyn Park, MN.
