Read New Articles About Case Study of a Remote Vehicle Tracking Tool, Managed Access Systems and Contraband Cell Phones on NIJ.gov

Two new articles recently posted to the National Institute of Justice website focus on recently released publications focusing on research funded by NIJ.

In "Case Study of a GPS Tracking Tool Designed to Aid in Police Vehicle Pursuits," available at https://nij.gov/topics/law-enforcement/operations/traffic/Pages/study-of-gps-tracking-tool.aspx, you can read about an independent assessment of a remote GPS vehicle tracking technology undertaken by the National Criminal Justice Technology Research, Test, and Evaluation Center (funded by NIJ and hosted by the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory). The article presents an overview of the research team's findings and a link to the full report.

"Managed Access Systems Can Prevent Contraband Cellphone Use" focuses on a study exploring the potential of managed access systems and their effects on mitigating contraband phone usage throughout corrections facilities. If contraband cellphones make it into a facility, managed access systems can prevent them from being used to send texts or make calls. Restricting network access makes phones less valuable and can reduce their demand. You can read the article at
